To create a safe containing space for individuals to explore, express, gain clarity and heal.
Our Vision
To heal the community one heart at a time, through the therapeutic use of art.
Our Mission
“Our logo, the heart-shaped leaf container denotes our aspiration to create a safe containing space for individuals to explore, express, gain clarity and heal. Holding this visual metaphor in mind, we present to you, The Heart Therapy Space.”
The visual metaphor of The Heart Therapy Space is that of a heart-shaped leaf container which has been restored by a kintsugi-inspired process, the Japanese art of repairing broken vessels with gold epoxy. The container, reminiscent of a heart, symbolises the universal heart that beats in each and every one of us, rhythmically circulating our lifeblood and regulating our emotions. The green leaf is shaped after the Philodendron Gloriosum plant, where philo means “love” and dendron means “tree” in Greek, and gloriosum is Latin for glorious. It represents the selfless love that one can have for each other within the community.
The kintsugi-inspired process we used to create this heart-shaped leaf container parallels our mission as mental health professionals to heal the community one heart at a time, through the therapeutic use of art. The cracked vessel symbolises the impact of an individual’s struggle with distressing and turbulent emotions. As we mend each shard by carefully aligning the cracks and attaching the pieces together, a stronger and more valuable vessel eventually emerges. Honouring the concept of kintsugi, we embrace the imperfections within ourselves and our community, rebuilding and rising from our experiences and challenges.
